VISTAR is always in search of people in need, similarly, needy people somehow know about VISTAR so they contact us to get help.
Gujarat State, which has 14.8% Scheduled Tribe population, earmarks the same proportion of its budget for tribal areas. When we, at VISTAR, came to know about tribal women in Dharampur in Valsad district, we found out what could we do for them. We identified 50 needy, hard-working women who were enthusiastic to start kind of work but had no idea as to what to do. Here, VISTAR comes into picture. We requested Government of Gujarat Tribal Sub Plan to fund our project for tribal women.
It was a 90 day program, 50 women were trained for sewing operator and given business model to start sewing project.
It was a successful venture for us as well as the tribal people for sustainable and safe project.
